Requesting a grant through a Donor Advised Fund is a great way to support Partners for Cancer Care and Prevention!
Donating to Partners for Cancer Care and Prevention through a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a simple process that can offer many advantages by maximizing your charitable impact while offering potential tax benefits. Follow these steps to make your donation:

1. Establish a Donor Advised Fund
-
If you don’t already have one, you will need to open a Donor Advised Fund (DAF). This can be done rather simply through a variety of financial institutions or community foundations. It is best to speak with your financial advisor before doing so to ensure this vehicle meant for philanthropic purposes aligns with your overall financial and personal goals including evaluating the tax benefits, selecting the appropriate investments to transfer into the DAF and maximizing the tax-free growth within the DAF, to name a few. Note each DAF sponsor will have deadlines for opening and funding a DAF before year-end.

2. Contact Your Donor Advised Fund Sponsor
-
Log In: Access your account through your DAF provider’s online portal.
-
Call or Email: If you prefer, you can contact your DAF advisor or representative for assistance.

3. Select the Nonprofit
-
Search for PFCCAP: Use your DAF provider’s search tool to find PFCCAP. You can search by the organization’s name (Partners for Cancer Care and Prevention), Employer Identification Number or EIN (45-1605551), or location.
-
Verify Information: Confirm that the nonprofit’s details match the organization you intend to support. Double-check the name, address, and EIN to ensure accuracy.

4. Recommend a Grant
-
Choose the Amount: Decide on the donation amount you’d like to grant from your DAF.
-
Purpose of Grant (Optional): You may specify if you’d like your donation to be used for a particular program or purpose within the nonprofit. If no specific purpose is stated, the funds will be used for the organization’s general operations.
-
Grant Recognition: Choose whether to make your grant anonymous or in your name. You can also include a dedication or a message with your grant, if desired.
-
Submit the Recommendation: Follow your DAF provider’s procedure to submit the grant recommendation. This may include filling out an online form or providing details over the phone.

5. Confirmation and Follow-Up
-
Receive Confirmation: Your DAF provider will typically send you confirmation once the grant recommendation has been processed and the donation has been disbursed to PFCCAP. Note there may be deadlines for submitting grants before year-end.
-
Acknowledge the Donation: Once we receive the donation, we will reach out to you to confirm receipt and thank you (unless you indicate that your contribution is to remain anonymous). While a grant from your DAF is not a taxable event (different from when you funded it), it’s a good idea to keep records for your personal tracking.
