Baltimore, 4 April 2024

Partners for Cancer Care and Prevention (“Partners”) celebrates a significant milestone in our growth serving cancer patients, caregivers, and families.  As we take stock of our accomplishments over recent years, the Board of Directors joyfully announces the expansion of the Executive Team as it welcomes Bo Plantz as our new Executive Director and the transition of Tyler Horton from Executive Director to the role of Program Director.

The Board recognizes Tyler’s significant impact since 2022, playing a crucial role in reinforcing Partners as a trusted member of the cancer care community. Her contributions have included organizational development, program expansion, and leading the recent executive search. Her achievements have fortified and enhanced the organization, facilitating our forward momentum and growth. Without question, Tyler’s accomplishments over the past two years have prepared us for success today!

Tyler looks to build on her successes and focus on her passion for public health programming in her new role. Tyler shares, “This transition is a testament to the growth and evolution of this organization. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to focus my energy on the continued growth of our programming. The potential for impact and the enthusiasm behind our projects are awe-inspiring. My goal is to continue building programs and connections that increase the quality and chance of life for patients and caregivers facing life-changing diagnoses.”

“Tyler has led Partners tirelessly with grace and passion, and her successes have not only brought us achievements to celebrate but have built and strengthened our organization,” said Co-founder and President Dr. Armando Sardi. “Without her contributions, we would not be ready for our next phase as we lean into our commitment to be patient-focused and welcome Bo Plantz, a cancer survivor, to lead our work into the future.”

Bo joins Partners following nearly a decade of experience in nonprofit administration. He comes from Mid Atlantic Arts, a nonprofit grantmaking and service organization, where he served alongside numerous industry leaders to empower a high-functioning team in program design and strategy development. Drawing on his background as an artist and community advocate, along with his experience as a CRS-HIPEC patient underpinning his appreciation for the complexities that cancer patients face, Bo is passionate about leveraging responsive programming to build community.

On his appointment, Bo said, “I continue to be inspired by those facing cancer, and I am humbled to have been a small part of patients’ journeys. Those experiences exemplify the power of empathy and mutual support. It has been an honor to support this organization’s work in the past, and I am incredibly excited to level my full energies toward connecting patients with the social, emotional, and experiential support they need to fight with confidence.”

Co-founder and Chairman of the Board Dr. John Singer stated, “It has been amazing to watch this organization grow over the past thirteen years and see the impact we’ve had. It’s thrilling to bring on Bo who embodies everything we stand for. His experiences are deeply relatable to our work, and he brings an exciting vision that will carry us forward as we deepen our commitment to patients and caregivers.”

Since 2011, Partners has focused on mitigating the obstacles women face in their breast and cervical cancer journeys by bridging the gap in cancer screening and treatment in Colombia. In 2023, Partners announced a significant expansion with the creation of the Abdominal Cancers Alliance. This new patient-focused program will provide the latest medical information, pivotal connections, and support to patients and caregivers fighting intra-abdominal malignancies.

The strategic direction for Partners’ next phase of growth will emphasize programs and services centering on the patient and caregiver experience and embracing the power of connection. As we look to our future, we promote the hope and positivity that every cancer patient deserves to feel as they face their fight. We seek to embody a whole-health perspective, to both amplify the medicine in cancer treatment and to meet those facing cancer with impactful support systems from prevention and detection through treatment and survivorship.

We are honored to serve this community and to be a part of your story.
